PJPS, Philam Life’s beneficiary of International Women’s Day celebration

March 8, 2018

This International Women’s’ Day, Philam Life, an AIA Group Company, were looking for a community that inspire change for women. At Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS) we work with spouses and children of incarcerated men in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City to address the difficult realities linked to the incarceration of a family member.

The spouse and their children are most likely forced to look for better alternatives in order to sustain their everyday needs. But, with little options to earn a living due to low educational attainment, lack of financial knowledge, skills, and decision-making, access to and participation in financial resources and financial behaviors are become increasingly difficult to meet.

The Philam Life is inspired by the story of spouse’s struggle and how our efforts in PJPS

encourages them to move forward, thus, this year’s International Women’s Day celebration is dedicating its cause to PJPS.

Through its HR Department, it staged a mini-concert inspired to the growth of women in their company and to the strong women of the PJPS community.

The group MaskiPops, composed of Philam Life employees, performed live at the 16th floor cafeteria in Net Lima, PhilamLife Building during lunch time. The attendees may opt to donate cash to support the livelihood of the spouses of incarcerated men. The donation drive will run from March 8 to 28, 2018.

Present also during the celebration is Mr. AIbee Cantos, Philam Life Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Max G. Ventura, Philam Foundation President. Each of them gave an inspiring message and encouraged all the employees to take part in this significant cause.

Mr. Henry B. Palmones Jr., PJPS Programs Officer gave a brief introduction about the foundation and the service it provides to the corrections community. He extended, in behalf of PJPS community, with deep appreciation to Philam Life and Philam Foundation for taking its part of our rebuilding lives and rekindling hope mission.
